North of India

January 22nd, 2009

I am back, from 2 and half weeks of break, and barely managing to touch 4 northern states on India. A journey through various cultures, vivid hospitality and still being a part of complete India.

My journey started with Rajasthan, then went on to Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and ended in Delhi.

Rajasthan land of riches and Rajputs. Rajputs are well-know for thier valor in war and love towards their motherland. This is tough arm of indian Northwest region. When i planned my vacation, was lucky to get a Fairy Queen pakage tour in my schudule. The package while expensive for 2-day, was all worth to all what it offers. Delhi -> Alwar -> Sariskaa -> Alwar -> Delhi. That night we had cultural perfomances by local Rajasthani troupe, with folk song. Here we got to see Sariskaa wildlife on-board safari (part of package).

Just before the warmth of hospitality of could fade off my memory, I was already on my way to pathankot (Punjab) and then to Dalhousie (Himachal Pradesh). Dalhousie a relaxed place. Where life seems to come still with awesome surrounding Phir-Panjjar range. I was at Dalhousie to attend a 6-day Winter trek organised by Youth Hostel Association of India. Trek was through thick decidious forest of deodhar and pine trees. The route was Dalhousie-> Kaltop -> Khajjiar (mini Swiss) -> obori (Chamba) -> Dalhousie. The 6 days i got 43 new people to know. Self realisation of many many things. Trek was walkers paradise, so was for photographers. End of trek i had reduced chin, Toes with blisters, some sweet memories of Trek.

After trek i was in Delhi, our national Capital. And so was it neat, clean, ans secure. Every hundred meter Government had deployed a security person. With an automated refiles patrol streets and places of Historic and Political importance. I was walking up and down streets of Delhi. The way i did majot part of m local site seeing. I was at Delhi from where i did a short trip to Agra (Taj Mahal) ->Mathura (birth place of lord Krishna)->Vrindawan Gardens.

There are many more things to come from my vistis. Which i will be posting some time soon.

Important thing is -

I am Back!

Where is Raj? – keep politics away!

November 29th, 2008

Where is Raj? – keep politics away!

In entire day yesterday, received a message starting with “Where is Raj? .. bully”. Mass SMSes were followed by chain e-mails contain same message. Being a “Marathi Manus” I was bombarded with the same question verbally by my colleagues as well. The entire message said in email:

“Tell This Raj Thakrey That Some North Indian Commandos are Fighting For His Own Place Maharashtra and Mumbai.
Should They Stop Their Fight against This terror.
Did He Checked that Whether they are Marathi Or Non Marathi?????

While the SMSes Said:

“Where is Raj Thackeray now? Tell him that 200 NSG commandos from Delhi being sent to fight the terrorists. So that he can sleep peacefully in Maharashtra….Please send across….”

I was shocked to see friday being so bad, politics had started taking over issues very serious like terrorism. I had responded to many people sending over SMS saying,

“Be a responsible citizen. Don’t mix regional politics with sensitive topic like terrorism. If a educated people like would do this, think of illiterates. Be more responsible, and don’t make loose comments like politicians.”

Its evenly bad out here! We say people are immune to Bomb blast. The spirit of Mumbai to fight back is nothing but a struggle to survive. A place where a person if doesn’t work for a day, his family had a glass of water of dinner and goes to sleep. Things had been bad over couple of months. But this time Mumbai had seen in worst. Heart of each Indian Wept over the incidence. It was not just Mumbaikar.

When attack on Mumbai was compared with attack Attack on India. When terror strikes let it be any part on India, Loss is of India!

We are well educated person. We would not fall to cheap politics. But would always seek opportunities to make India better and safer.
